WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?

Osteopathy is a system of therapy founded in 1874 based on the concept that the body can formulate its own remedies against diseases when the body is in a normal structural relationship, has an ideal environment, and receives proper nutrition.

Osteopathy is particularly concerned with maintaining optimal function of bony joints, muscles, and connective tissues. It believes that disturbances in the musculoskeletal system can cause disorders in other bodily parts and can be corrected by various
hands-on manipulative techniques.

Osteopaths are highly-trained manual therapy practitioners who use their knowledge of anatomy to diagnose the true cause of symptoms. They strongly believe in the healing power of the body and do their best to facilitate that innate healing process. Hence Osteopathic Pain Relief Centre (OPRC)’s tagline is derived from this belief: Helping Your Body to Heal Itself.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF OPRC

OPRC was founded by Mr. Joselito dela Cruz in 2002. It started its humble beginning at Tanglin Shopping Centre. In September 2003, OPRC relocated to Pickering Street and by January 2006, its business expanded from 1 to 3 treatment rooms.

Apart from providing Osteopathic treatments and clinical massa-ges, OPRC has also conducted workshops for California Fitness, Planet Fitness, National Skin Centre, Running Lab, Keppel Club, Serangoon Garden Country Club, Great Eastern Life Planners, and Laguna National Golf and Country Club. OPRC, in association with Steelcase (US ergonomic chair manufacturer), presented an “Ergonomic-Sitting posture advice” workshop for FedEx and Great Eastern managers. OPRC is currently working closely with Benel (ergonomic chair manufacturer) to provide affordable office chairs.

In order to serve OPRC’s ever-growing patients’ needs, it has relocated to a bigger, more beautiful, and more convenient clinic at 72 Amoy Street. The new clinic has 4 Osteopathic treatment rooms and 3 clinical massage therapy rooms.
